Study on Codonopsis Lanceolata Cultivation Under Shading Conditions



Abstract
This experiment was conducted to examine the possibility of growing wild Codonopsis lanceolata, which is usually grown in shaded mountainous areas, under lighted conditions in fields.
The results showed that it could be grown in unshaded conditions and harvested for marketing two years after planting. The one year old root¢¥s weight was an average of 5.14g and two year old roots amounted to 284 §¸ per 10 ares with an average weight of 23.3g. Low temperature treatment for two weeks at 2-4¡É improved the seed germinating ability by 50% compared to only 1% for non-treated seeds.
